For people with diabetes, the continual re-occurrence of foot ulcers, called Diabetic Foot Syndrome, can be a very serious problem. Because of complications caused by diabetes, these foot wounds cannot get the moisture and nutrients they need resulting in dryness and scabbing. This causes these ulcers to take extremely long periods of time to heal, if they heal at all. In many cases, infections set in that the body cannot fight. Unfortunately, this all too often leads to amputation. Now, a new moist bandage, called HydroMed by Dermaphylyx, keeps diabetic foot wounds moist and allows them to heal more quickly with less chance for infection. Using a permeable gel, the bandages allow unwanted fluids to leave the wound while keeping necessary moisture and medications in place. Best of all, for seniors the cost of these bandages is covered for those who are Medicare Part B recipients.
