Exposure to a severely traumatic event can cause nightmares, flashbacks and difficulty sleeping. For most people, these post-traumatic symptoms disappear over time. For others, the symptoms become chronic and lead to PTSD. Guests are Thomas Uhde, M.D., Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Penn State College of Medicine's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and a specialist in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Philip Bressler, Ph.D., psychologist with the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona. He leads the Center's PTSD support groups.
