Mark S. Waters‘s adaptation of the popular fantasy novels " The Spiderwick Chronicles " tells the tale of the Graces, a family who must adapt to their new strange surroundings. As the story begins, twin brothers Jared and Simon, along with their sister Mallory and their mother Helen( Mary Louise–Parker ), move away from the big city to a mansion owned by their uncle ( David Strathairn )and aunt Lucinda ( Joan Plowright ). When a series of strange happenings suggest that Jared may be causing a number of disturbances, the siblings band together to figure out what is going on. Soon they discover the magical history of the property. Helen is battling with the rebellious Jared ( Freddie Highmore ), one of her twin sons. He doesn‘t like being away from his dad, is homesick and doesn‘t want anything to do with this dusty, spiderwebby old ruin that was left to his mother by her aunt. Jared‘s clever twin Simon looks identical,but is an entirely different character. Together the three siblings work to clear Jared‘s name of mischief and find out what kind of mystery the old house is steeped in. This magical tale features the voices of comedy favourites Seth Rogan and Martin Short .
