DigInfo - http://www.diginfo.tv The Kanagawa Institute of Technology exhibited an exercise instructor robot at ROBO JAPAN 2008, which was held in Yokohama. The exercise instructor robot shows the user example exercise movements and then uses a stereo camera to photograph and observe the user's movements in order to confirm his or her movements. The robot can detect if there are any differences between the exercise examples shown by the robot and the movements of the user that are recognized by the robot, and if any differences do exist, the robot can give the user advice on how to correct those differences. When the exercise instructor robot is connected to measurement devices such as a heart rate monitor or a body temperature thermometer, the robot can adjust the load so that it is tailored to the physical status of the user.
