May 19 - Britain's Queen Elizabeth presented her eldest son, Prince Charles, with the prestigious Victoria Medal of Honour at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. It is the highest accolade that the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) can confer. Only 63 horticulturists can hold the award at any one time, to commemorate the years of Queen Victoria's reign. The RHS said the heir to throne was being presented with the medal in recognition of his "passion for plants, sustainable gardening and the environment". The award presentation came during the British royal family's traditional visit to the annual show amid intricate garden designs and displays of plants, foliage and flowers.
