President Rajapakse issues instructions to the officials concerned to put up several new Police Stations in the Southern Province. He chaired another meeting of a series of discussions with Police Officers at the Provincial level yesterday. 7'O clock HeadlinesIt was decided to put up new Police Stations, replacing those at Tangalle and Ambalantota. Karapitiya will get a new Police Station. New Stations will be constructed with foreign assistance on behalf of the stations devastated by the tsunami. The Dickwella, Ratgama and Kirinda Stations constructed under this programme, have already been opened. Work is nearing completion on the Kosgoda and Hikkaduwa Police Stations. It was revealed that work on the Ahangama, Weligama, Inigama and Udugama Police Stations, is nearing completion. The President instructed Police Chief Victor Perera to launch a special security programme affiliated to the Kataragama sacred premises and another programme covering the entire Southern Province during the festive season. The IGP said he had taken initiatives to grant 26 new cabs for Police Stations in the Province. The President also ordered the supply of power to Police Posts, which lack electricity. Ministers Chamal Rajapakse, Dulles Alahapperuma, Piyasena Gamage, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Jagath Pushpakumara, Chandrasiri Gajadeera and Mahinda Amaraweera attended the discussion. Parliamentarian Nirupama Rajapakse and Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya and Chief Minister Shan Wijelal De Silva were present.
