Oil barrels undertake a tortuous journey on their way from the oil wells of the North Sea to your local petrol station. Their passage passes through a multitude of hands, refineries, importers/exporters, agents, transporters that all add substantially to the prices paid at the petrol pump. The explosion of gas prices has provoked many questions and a great deal of suspicion. Who is making money at consumers' expense? What factors contribute to the price we pay for petrol at the pump? Have prices peaked, or can they rise higher still? The programme follows one barrel of crude oil in an attempt to find out the answer to these questions and more.
