THIS IS A SMALL VIDEO OF BLACKDOG BEACH IN ABERDEEN WHICH HAS BEEN POLLUTED BY WASTE OIL AND DRILLING MUD WHICH WAS DEPOSITED IN A NEIGHBOURING UNLINED LANDFILL SITE. THIS SITE WAS OPERATED BY SHANKS & MCEWAN IN THE LATE 80'S, EARLY 90'S AND MOST OF THE MAJOR OIL COMPANIES WHICH WERE AROUND THEN USED THIS SITE TO DUMP THEIR WASTE. THE POLLUTION CONSISTS OF HYDROCARBONS, NAPTHALENES, PHENANTHRENES AND DIBENZOTHIOPHENES, ALL KNOWN TO BE HARMFUL TO MAN, ANIMALS AND SEALIFE ALIKE. WRG (WASTE RECYCLING GROUP) who are part of the Spanish construction and services group, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC). visit www.fcc.es. advised me 4 years ago that this pollution was going to be cleaned up in several months time, Shanks & McEwan told me the same thing nearly 8 years ago.Their insurers, the Royal Sun Alliance have been invited to meetings to try to sort out this problem immediately, but have declined. Instead, all parties appear to be dragging this out as long as possible, to the detriment of the environment.The salmon and sea trout, the mammals and shell life, the flora, the fauna and our heritage are being damaged.
