The Best of the Best Nintendo 64 Games. Subscribe to me to know when the next one comes. The writeup on each game: Blast Corps: Before Grand Theft Auto was all the rage, Rare-developed Blast Corps offered action-game fans their best opportunity to drive different vehicles and blow stuff up. Pokemon Snap: This Pokemon side game is one of our favorites in the franchise. Snapping the perfect photo, framed properly, at just the right moment is a blast and teaches you real photo-taking skills. Rocket: Robot on Wheels: A brilliant first effort from Sucker Punch (who went on to develop the sly cooper trilogy), this little-known platformer is a blast to wheel around in thanks the games very responsive controls. Mario Golf: A very deep and full featured golf simulation(despite the overalls, talking turtles, and apes in ties), Mario Golf is that rare sports game that you don't have to be a sports fan to enjoy. Rayman 2: The Great Escape: the first Rayman was a solid platformer, but creator Michel Ancel really came into his own with The Great Escape. This sequel oozes charm and remains the highlight of the limbless ones career. Super Smash Bros.: The original Smash Bros. has lost a little of its luster after being outdone by to amazing sequels, but it still holds its own as one of the N64's ultimate multilayer games. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber: Aside from boasting possibly the greatest subtitle of all time, Ogre Battle makes the list on the strength of its compelling narrative and deep strategic gameplay. Paper Mario: This action-RPG hybrid brought new levels of fun interactivity to turned-based battle, and introduced one the most distinct and cool art styles we've ever seen in a video game. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron: For Star Wars fans, Rogue Squadron was a dream come true. Thanks to some of the best graphics ever seen at the time, piloting an X-wing had never been so inviting. F-Zero X: Massive 30-vehicle mosh-pit-style races, crazy roller-coaster-style tracks, and incredibly fast, smooth 3-D gameplay make F-Zero X our all time favorite in the series. Conker's Bad Fur Day: Just your typical cute platformer...NOT! Pretty much anything goes in this hilarious M-rated game: kill zombies, fight poo, impersonate Keanu Reeves...you know, the usual stuff. Wave Race 64: Bouncing off waves, flying off ramps, pulling flips in the air, and splashing around one of gamings all-time best course design make Wave Race 64 one of our favorite racing games. Jet Force Gemini: There's just something eminently about killing swarms of giant alien bugs. in this oft-overlooked shooter from Rare. It's like Starship Troopers with creepy-cute characters. WWF No Mercy: Even years later, Aki's wrestling games are the pinnacle of the genre- the grappling engine is just that good. No Mercy beat out WrestleMania 2000 thanks to the deeper feature set. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: An experimental and surreal follow-up to Ocarina of Time, Majora's repeating three-day structures gives puzzle lovers a lot to think about while playing Link's new transformations. Star Fox 64: As for Mario Kart 64, the extra muscle of the CPU allowed developers to fully realize the Star Fox concept with detailed 3-D worlds and more action in what is easily the series' best game. GoldenEye 007: Nothing less than a multilayer revolution. From living rooms to college dorms, player flocked to GoldEye's four-player split-screen matches, which are still a blast to play. Mario Kart 64: Thanks to the power of the N64, the Mario Kart series left the flat "Mode 7" tracks of the Super NES original behind for true 3-D worlds, resulting in the console's very best racing game. Super Mario 64: Perhaps no game had been as influential as Super Mario 64 since the first Super Mario Bros. over a decade earlier. True 3-D console gaming started with SM64, and it's still one of the all-time greats. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Along with Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time ushered in the era of 3-D gaming by showing all of us what was possible. The world of Hyrule was brought to life
