Dec 22, 2009-May 8, 2009 Staff Sgt. Randy S. Agno died at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, of wounds sustained April 27 from a non-combat related incident at Forward Operating Base Olsen in Samarra, according to the Department of Defense. The incident is under investigation, Army officials said. He was assigned to the 325th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Schofield Barracks. Agno joined the Army in 1998 and was assigned to Hawaii in 2001. He served as a food service specialist, according to U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii. Agno, a 1997 graduate of Pearl City High School, joined the Army in 1998 and was assigned to Hawai'i in 2001. He was a food service specialist. In 2006, Agno was named Junior Army Chef of the Year at the Army's 31st Annual Culinary Arts Competition. Agno earned numerous military awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Arrowhead, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was also named the Junior Army Chef of the Year at the U.S. Army's 31st Annual Culinary Arts Competition in 2006.
