The strong inland earthquake M7.2 in Iwate prefecture, Tohoku, Japan on June, 14, 2008 did cause damage to infrastructure of the region. This is great obstacle to seismologists as they need to deploy a temporary network and record aftershocks that contain invaluable information about earthquake itself. In this case a helicopter is very useful to overcome this obstacle.
