I got this idea to document a grocery shopping excursion from dhillkc. It's not all that "deep" a video, but simply a documentation of what I bought at the grocery store one weekend.

Deanna Fene
By Deanna Fené First Coast News JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Want to save 20% on your next grocery bill? How about 30% or even 40%? It's possible and so easy to do if you know the grocery shopping secrets. Prices at grocery stores have been soaring along with the high gas prices, but there are ways to save money. Grocery shopping experts suggest before entering the store and picking up groceries have a grocery shopping strategy. "If you really pay attention and create a strategy before you go to the grocery store you can save significantly," said Dwaine Stevens a Publix Division Manager. One secret: Look for the non-advertised specials and stock up. Another secret: Buy generic brands, also known as private label. "A lot of times with the private label verses the national brand there's a 30% cost savings that you can save by going more generic," said Stevens. With generic brands however, be careful it's the same quality and quantity. More secrets: Make a list of items you need before heading to the store. Look for the 2 for 1 sales. Buy in bulk when there are good sales. Plan your meals for the week in advance. Studies have shown that impulse buying can increase your spending 20% to 30%; and, make sure you use those coupons. Local shopper Carol Hahn just saved 20% on her grocery bill. She bought a week's worth of groceries for just $50. How did she do it? "I watch the specials. I check the paper and whatever I need I make a list." Grocery secrets can end up saving shoppers a lot of cash.
