Carlos Ghosn, chief executive officer of Nissan Motor Co., talked with Bloomberg's Mike Firn in Tokyo about the automaker's forecast that earnings will drop 30 percent in the year ending March 31, plans for growth in emerging markets and prospects for the alliance between Nissan and Renault SA, of which Ghosn is also CEO. Japan's third-largest automaker joins Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. in predicting lower earnings as the yen's 7.7 percent gain against the dollar this year erodes the value of overseas sales. Record gasoline prices and job insecurity have also cut demand for Titan pickup trucks and Pathfinder sport-utility vehicles. (Source: Bloomberg)
