Renters would get a smaller tax refund from the Minnesota and businesses owners would see their property taxes go down under a bill sponsored by Representative Greg Davids (R ). Representative Michael Paymar (DFL) says "when we take it from the poor, when we take it from senior citizens, when we take it from people who are disabled. I mean there's something about our priorities here that are really getting screwed up. " Representative Davids says the move is necessary to make Minnesota's business climate competitive with other states. Rep John Lesch: It just amazes me that we find money for corporations and business from the pockets of low income people for 70-80 million dollars a year where there's not much to squeeze there. There's plenty of squeeze at the upper end of the income for people who are doing well . Chair Rep. Greg Davids This is one attempt that I have to lower the cost of doing business in this state so that it does become more competitive and our job providers, our small businesses are the job creators. Yes, you need customers, but they're the ones that are actually providing the jobs and creating the jobs. And yes they do need customers, that's true. But I want to make Minnesota more favorable place for business. A better place to do business and so that's why we have House File 1914 before us.
