I'm not kidding you -- and no tunnels or anything. It's hard but I'd advise everyone to "hang in there" That's it! Wake up six minutes later and realize what's happened. That's it. 1:17:44 You've ...

Just allowed you to be and express -- I got lost in the conversation... Well I was asking about the connection your military experience and your art and even though you said I don't see any connection—you then went onto say that they're both --you're living on the edge, you're moving into the unknown. Well I can drop back and say the bike thing was the edge too. I couldn't put it into words -- you don't put much into words at 13. It holds all the way through. It's the same kind of stuff and wherever I found it—it turned me on greatly and I found it in painting. As I was gonna say ... you learn -- things you can do that makes things better. There's many things you can do to make things better.. That isn't painting— That's knowing how to paint. And using it -- but maybe it shouldn't be used? Paintings express feelings and recognize the emotions I had once felt before in other experiences. You have to break through that kind of thing in order to stay alive with it. 1:07:07 Otherwise, it becomes routine and it becomes dead for you. Well it's never been that -- so I don't think it will ever become it for me—But it's mine—What I do - other art forms. The art fields I won't even talk about. The more esoteric an endeavor is --the worse the field is --the business end and it's not always in art -- in in ballet and some very fine endeavors. But that's the business end —that's something else --the actual doing it -- to be involved -- for me --it's never changed :07:43 Why did you come back to Colorado? To Aspen? I'd been playing tennis since I was probably 10 years old and loved it, absolutely loved it. (a noise?) In Spain that continued. On the coast, when we were there I played a little but not very much. We went back into Yeguas, I actually built a court and played a lot of tennis. I mean I was in love with it. The kids were on their way by that time. When they were about 15 years old, I like to say "we kicked them out" of the house. Barbie goes Ahhh! Like this. No, but we encouraged them out and they did, people watching, places where was a contact and got life started, which we would've like to have done ourselves. Anyway I'm playing tennis, I got quite good -- enjoyed it very much. Kids are out of the house completely. We were part of a tennis club on the coast— Lew Hoad the Australian tennis star back in his years. And I was playing for the club championship. And I'm playing a young guy, actually a Turk -- who I didn't get along with at all --and I'm winning—and he got very mad at one point and --he's screaming on the other side of the net some shot was wrong—and I must've said what I said, whatever it was, he came running at me and jumped -- with a racquet and wham.. In doing so caught me here—broke my sinus, my jaw—blew out my left bundle branch—Sooo it's 1982 -- I'm fifty what eight years old -- and I'm in trouble, I'm fibrillating once or twice a week and I have no electrical branch and I'm not a good prognosis -- came into the states and had it checked and this and that. They said you've got 5-10 years -- you've got a problem—there's nothing you can do --except enjoy life -- good diet -- I'm 58 years old. So life did change a lot. I hung around about 8 years at Yeguas in our home but it became very clear -- got hauled away in the middle of the night-- We were never going to see grandchildren that hadn't been born yet. 1:10:16 And came back to the states in 1990. I gave up. And it was a good move. Came into Aspen to take a look -- a great place to be with a heart problem, right? It turned out to be YES—I fell in love all over again -- and I think it kept me alive. Sounds like--You got very active into wilderness activities?. Well that's why we came out here. Barbara loves the city, I love the wilderness. I hate machines. 1:10:58 Managed to buy an old Toyota and bought an $80 snowmobile from T Lazy Seven—hate "machines" but in took off on it—and had never been on anything like it in my life --in a machine backcountry. You're out in the wilderness all alone. Just like WW II, but I'm grounded now. From 1991 until two years
