Four Green Fields This song was written by Tommy Makem in 1967. Ireland is divided into four provinces: Connaught, Leinster, Munster, and Ulster. Six of the nine counties of Ulster are occupied by forces of the United Kingdom. Tommy Makem died on August 1, 2007. I met Tommy on three or four occasions (none of which he would have remembered). He'll be sadly missed by those of us who were there in the 60s as well as all true fans of Irish music. There are a couple slips of the tongue and the strings are buzzing but you'll still get the idea.
