The rhythm was popularized in the United States of America by a 1923 tune called The Charleston by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin' Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade. Jumpstyle is a style of electronic music that has evolved from hardstyle and includes influences from hard dance. Unlike hardstyle, it does not have an off kick bassline, basing itself more on the kick drum. It is a new genre in the hard dance scene and has its origins in Belgium although is slowly spreading across Europe and even into Israel. It's also popular in the United States, especially on the east coast (New Jersey, Chicago), and on the west coast (Los Angeles).
