Wings Hauser (born December 12 1947) is an American actor, director and film writer.
Hauser was born Gerald Dwight Hauser in Hollywood, California, the son of Geraldine (née Thienes) and Academy Award-winning director and producer Dwight Hauser (1911–1969). His brother is actor Erich Hauser.
In 1975, Hauser released an album for RCA with title, Your Love Keeps Me Off the Streets. For this LP he used the name Wings Livinryte. Hauser first attracted notice in 1977 in the soap opera The Young and the Restless as Greg Foster. He has appeared in 41 television series, including recurring roles in Beverly Hills 90210, Murder, She Wrote and Roseanne. In 1983 he wrote, and produced the Paramount box-office hit, Uncommon Valor. Hauser has also managed to sustain an eclectic movie career, highlighted by rather eccentric, intense character portrayals in movies such as Vice Squad, Deadly Force, No Safe Haven, and Tough Guys Don't Dance.
Hauser is married to actress Cali Hauser. His son, from a previous marriage, is actor Cole Hauser.
Extremely proud to be married to his brilliant filmmaking partner: talented young actress/filmmaker, Cali Lili Hauser . Cali's great ancestor is Golden era legend Edward G. Robinson). Cali earned her Master's Degree from NYU as a teenager, - after having already been skipped several grades in school. Wings and Cali are now a rookie/veteran filmmaking team. Cali will be starring in the film that Wings will direct and that they co-wrote, "South of Eden." Cali co-produces that film, along with Academy Award-winning Producer, Hans de Weers ("Antonia's Line"). Additionally, Cali was granted the rights to Zane Grey's favourite novel, by Grey's son, Loren and now Wings and Cali are adapting that novel for the screen - a film in which they will co-star. After a high-school career centered in sports - his name "Wings" is taken from the "Wing-back" position he played in football. Wings chose to lean toward the arts - acting and music (including an album of his original music for RCA) - instead of pursuing professional sports. Having descended from an artistic and talented family, this choice was a heartfelt one. Wings is the son of writer/producer/actor Dwight Hauser, who worked on (amongst many other projects) the Classic "Whistler" radio series. Son of the beautiful Geraldine Hauser, (who was the daughter of author Tom Thienes - "Whimseys" and others). Father of Bright Hauser, - his daughter whom he raised as a single father, having arrived in Hollywood "with thirty dollars and a box of pampers" - and really earned his career accomplishments with hard work and dedication. Father of Cole Hauser.
