"Wind It Up (Rewound)" was the sixth single released by the British electronica/rave act The Prodigy on 29 March 1993.
This was a different version to "Wind It Up" as featured on Experience. The B-side "We are the Ruffest" features a speeded-up banjo riff.
The Elektra version of the single in the United States was never re-released as some of the previous singles were, making it a rarity and much sought after. The Elektra version also exclusively contained four remixes never released on any other work by the band.
The video features the band again on tour in the United States, as in the "Everybody in the Place" video, but this time on the West Coast. There is footage showing local flavour, the band in concert and on the beach.
This was the last Prodigy single in a British breakbeat hardcore vein as Howlett felt he needed to take the music in a new direction (see "One Love").
"Wind It Up" is a pop song written by Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams originally for inclusion on Stefani's Harajuku Lovers Tour 2005. Because of favorable reception, the song was later recorded for her second solo album The Sweet Escape (2006). The track includes an interpolation of The Sound of Music song "The Lonely Goatherd".
"Wind It Up" was panned by music critics, who criticized the song's use of yodeling and found the track to be over the top. The track was released as the album's lead single in late 2006 (see 2006 in music) and reached the top twenty in most music markets.
"Wind It Up" is the second single from Canadian musical group Barenaked Ladies' 2006 album, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. The album recording features lead guitar and a solo by Kim Mitchell.
The song was first played for the public live at a 2005 Barenaked for the Holidays tour show on December 19 in Calgary, Alberta. It was then released in 'Simlish' (a gibberish language used in the Sim series of video games by Maxis) in the Sims 2 "Family Fun Stuff" expansion pack.
The final album version of “Wind It Up” was released as a b-side to the album’s first single, “Easy”,” on June 19, 2006. An acoustic version is available on the All New Revue album.
