After a mostly undistinguished movie career in the late 1940s, Prince moved to television in the 1950s and began making numerous appearances on anthology drama series such as Studio One, Philco Television Playhouse, and Armstrong Circle Theatre. He also had roles on several soap operas, including Young Dr. Malone, Another World, As the World Turns, The Edge of Night, and A World Apart, often appearing with his actress wife Augusta Dabney. He also had several film appearances, notably as Christian de Neuvillette in Cyrano de Bergerac, and as network president Edward Ruddy in Paddy Chayefsky's Network.
During the 1970s, 80s, and into the early 90s, Prince made guest appearances on dozens of primetime series. In 1980, he and Cyrano star Jose Ferrer both appeared in the made-for-television film Gideon's Trumpet. Ferrer played Justice Abe Fortas, and Prince was seen as one of the other Supreme Court Justices.
William Prince (1772 - September 8, 1824) was a U.S. Representative from Indiana.
Born in Ireland in 1772, Prince immigrated to the United States in 1796 and settled in Indiana. He studied law. He served as Commissioner for Gibson County, Indiana and drew the winning lot to become the county seat's namesake in 1814. He served in the State senate in 1816. He served as delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1816. He served as captain in the Battle of Tippecanoe. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1821 and 1822. He was interred in the Old Cemetery, near Princeton, Indiana.
William Prince (March 28, 1868 — June 1, 1948) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played in one match during the 1898 season. Prince was born in Somercotes and died in New Ollerton.
Prince, batting as a tailender, put on two runs with the bat in the first innings, having conceded just thirteen with the ball when bowling, from nine overs, the best runs-per-over rate for the team during the entire match.
Prince did not bat in the second innings as the match finished up as a draw.
William was a character actor whose popularity was due to hundreds of appearances in soap operas. Going from the stage to the screen, William had an undistinguished movie career in the 40's which ran out of steam after about four years. But in the 50's, he would find his calling on the small screen. On "Young Dr. Malone" (1958), he played the father for five years. He was also cast in "Another World" (1964), "Edge of Night, The" (1956), "Search for Tomorrow" (1951) and "World Apart, A" (1970). One note worthy credit was that he was part of the continuing cast on the first hour long Television drama series "Mask, The" (1954). By the 70's and 80's, he appeared in a number of Television Mini-Series and Television Movies. On the stage, he appeared in plays by Eugene O'Neill and Edward Albee.
