It was released at the peak of Tina Turner's musical career, during her Private Dancer era. The song's lyrical content and theme is mostly a statement of anti-war and anti-violence. There are two versions of the song, the movie version, and the radio version. The version played during the film differs from the radio version. To date, the film version has not been released. The song received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song in 1986 and a 1986 Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
