Wallis H. Clark (March 2, 1882 - February 14, 1961) was an actor, born in Essex, England. He died in North Hollywood, California. Along with actors Bess Flowers and Franklyn Farnum, Clark holds the record for the most appearances in films which have won the Academy Award for Best Picture. He appeared in supporting roles in 136 films between 1931 and 1954. Five of these films won Best Picture: It Happened One Night (1934), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), The Great Ziegfeld (1936), You Can't Take It with You (1938), and Gone with the Wind (1939). In four of these five films, Clark was uncredited. In Mutiny on the Bounty, he is credited in the role of Morrison.
Wallis Clark has the unique distinction of having appeared in more Academy Award Best Picture winners than any other actor or actress. Clark appeared as a supporting actor in 136 films between 1931 and 1954, five of which won Best Picture: You Can't Take it With You, The Great Ziegfield, It Happened One Night, Mutiny On the Bounty and Gone With the Wind. Not only is he the only person to have done this, but the runners-up (each with four Best Pictures) are all dead, so the record of five Best Pictures may go unchallenged for years to come. The runners-up, each with appearances in four Best Pictures, are Bess Flowers (It Happened One Night, You Can't Take It With You, The Greatest Show On Earth, All About Eve), and Edwin Maxwell (You Can't Take It With You, The Great Ziegfield, Grand Hotel, All Quiet On the Western Front).
