The first full-CGI TV series done by an American studio (Netter Digital).

The CGI series is intended to be a sequel to the cel-animated series ("Voltron: Defender of the Universe" (1984)) that aired in 1985-1986 and re-aired in 1997-1998 under the deceptive title, "The New Adventures of Voltron" (1997). Regardless, very little of the CGI series is shared from the cel-animated series.

Cancelled because of low ratings in May 2000 after nearly two years on the air in syndication. The failure of the new Voltron franchise brought CGI animation studio Netter Digital to bankruptcy.
