:For the American boxer, see Tony Thompson (boxer)
Tony Thompson (November 15, 1954 - November 12, 2003) was a session drummer of Trinidadian and Antiguan descent with a long list of studio credits. He is best known for his work with Chic.
Tony Ulysses Thompson (September 2, 1975 – June 1, 2007) was an American R&B/soul singer and the lead vocalist of the R&B group Hi-Five. Thompson, who was raised in Oklahoma City, started singing solos in the local church choir at the age of eight. He was noticed by the manager and promoter Robert Ford, and made a cut of a demo with Roderick Clark, Russell Neal, Marcus Sanders, and Toriano Easley, acquaintances from his days in Waco. Hi-Five signed with Jive Records in 1990. The quintet's self-titled debut album went multi-platinum and created several hits, including "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)," "I Can't Wait Another Minute," and "Just Another Girlfriend".
In 1992, the group released Keep It Goin On, with "She's Playing Hard to Get" and "Quality Time". Faithful appeared the following year. Thompson's solo debut, Sexsational, was released on Giant Records in 1995.
Thompson formed his own record label, N'Depth, and re-incarnated Hi-Five with four new members, one of whom is his younger brother. The group's new album, The Return, was released in 2006.
He died from a freon overdose a.k.a "huffing" (as it has been confirmed through autopsy results) on June 1, 2007 at age 31 in his hometown of Waco. Thompson had recently moved back to Waco from Dallas, Texas and was working on new material for a solo album at the time of his death.
Tony Thompson (born October 18, 1971 in Silver Spring, MD) is a professional boxer. Nicknamed "The Tiger", Thompson is a rising contender in the heavywight division.
After his first four wins he lost to undefeated prospect Eric Kirklandin a four-rounder on points. It remained his only loss for the righthanded Thompson who nevertheless fights from a southpaw stance.
In 2001 he KO'd the undefeated Chester Hughes in the first round. Generally speaking his unspectular but highly effective way of fighting has given him considerable problems getting meaningful fights. He is about 245lbs but rather an average puncher.
In 2004 Tony handed undefeated Cuban amateur star Yanqui Diaz his first loss. He also beat former repeated title challenger Vaughn Bean. On a 25 fight winning streak, the 6'5" Thompson is coming off of huge victories over fringe contenders Dominick Guinn in June 2006 and Timor Ibragimov in February 2007. In the Ibragimov fight, Thompson's boxing shoes were stolen at the Playboy Mansion, and had to borrow a pair of basketball shoes from a Fox Sports Network producer blank">http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Fight:1165520.
Thompson also competed Cedric Kushner's Thunderbox Heavyweight Tournament, "Fistful of Dollars", but lost (this is counted as an exhibition therefore not shown in his record).
Thompson had a dominating TKO win over _Luan Krasniqi in a WBO title eliminator on July 14th, 2007. As of November 2007, he was ranked ninth in the heavyweight division by Ring Magazine, and was the only American-born fighter in the top ten.
