Dr. Tom (Tammie) Anderson, (1910-1991) was a renowned Shetland fiddler and teacher. He was affectionately known to his peers as "Muckle Tammie" (Big Tommy). Dr. Tom Anderson was known to many in Shetland as the saviour of Shetland's musical heritage long before he died.
Tom Anderson (born November 8, 1970 ) is the President of the social networking website, MySpace. He is one of the people identified as a founder of the site, along with CEO Chris DeWolfe. Since newly created MySpace accounts include Tom as a default "friend," he has become known as the face of MySpace. As of March 2, 2008, (07:06 EST) Tom has 225,843,751 "friends", a number which is constantly increasing due to new MySpace accounts being created.
Anderson attended the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and English. He then attended the University of California, Los Angeles and received a master's degree in film - critical studies. In 2003, he and a few computer programmers set up the first pages of MySpace and the site grew from there. It is currently the most popular social networking website on the Internet, and is the most popular website for teenagers as well, consistently performing among the top sites in United States web traffic rankings.
Thomas T. (Tom) Anderson (born August 4, 1967 ) is a consultant and former Alaska state representative for District 19 representing northeast Anchorage, Alaska. Anderson, a Republican, served in the Alaska Legislature for two terms, from 2003 until 2007, and became known for his sponsorship of legislation which expanded Alaska's DNA database to assist in forensic identification of criminal suspects through DNA testing.
On December 6, 2006, Anderson was indicted by a federal grand jury on seven felony counts of extortion, bribery, conspiracy, and money laundering involving allegations that he took bribes of nearly $13,000 in return for using his official position as a legislator to advocate for private prisons. Anderson's trial began on June 25, 2007 in U.S. District Court in Anchorage and went to the jury on July 6. On July 9, 2007, Anderson was found guilty of all seven felony counts. In response to the guilty verdict Anderson claimed that "the prosecution has criminalized being a legislator," and said he would appeal his conviction.
