Thomas Beck (December 29, 1909 - September 23, 1995), was an actor during the mid to late 1930s.
Beck was featured in 28 films in his carrier with his most notable roles being in several Charlie Chan films: Charlie Chan in Paris (1935), Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935), Charlie Chan at the Race Track (1936), and Charlie Chan at the Opera (1936). He also played opposite of Shirley Temple in the 1937 film Heidi as Pastor Schultz.
He is buried in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.
Thomas Beck (born February 21,1981) currently plays for Blau-Weiss Feldrich in Austria and the Liechenstein National Football Team. He plays striker and currently has 5 goals from 59 caps for his national team.
Mr. Beck played the juvenile lead in several Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto films, was the village priest opposite Shirley Temple in the film Heidi (1937), and was a soldier who died in 'Ronald Colman''s arms in Under Two Flags (1936). Mr. Beck also worked to promote the Screen Actors Guild to improve working conditions for actors. He left movie work in 1939 after the studio tried to reduce his wages. Died of Alzheimer's disease and heart ailments.
Thomas Beck was truly a Renaissance Man. He owned a collection of fetish santos and painted landscapes of California. He was most proud of his book of poems, titled "Astride the Wind," written before, during and after World War II.
