Thomas Antonius Cornelis Ancion, known by the pseudonym Thom Hoffman, (born March 3, 1957 in Wassenaar) is a Dutch actor and photographer.
Hoffman acts mainly in serious roles, especially those of complicated characters, this may be partially explainable by one of his quotes: "I take a dim view of human motives." His film debut was Luger under director Theo van Gogh in 1982 and since then has played more than twenty roles in films and TV series. He calls himself "more of a hard worker than a good actor," which is appropriate, since he never studied formally to become an actor.
Since 1991 he has worked in photography, also without professional training.
Hoffman married actress Giam Kwee on July 30, 2005
He often plays tormented/troubled characters such as in Witte waan, de, as a deadseaking junkie (1984) and Zoeken naar Eileen (1987) as a deasperatly in love, Avonden, de(1989) playing Frits van Egters. An often spoken phrase of Thom is "I have a dark look on human motives". His debut film is Luger (1982) under direction of Theo van Gogh. He played in more than twenty movies and tv-series. He calls himself "more a hard working man than a gifted actor" However he never had a breakthrough in international films. His second profession is that of a photorapher.
