The World Today is a current affairs news programme produced by BBC World the BBC's global news and current affairs television channel, and broadcast daily in a simulcast with BBC One and BBC News 24 in the United Kingdom. It has been on air in different formats since 1994. It was BBC World's flagship programme until the creation of World News Today, which is a similar format, but broadcast later in the day.
The programme was originally broadcast several times a day, but disappeared from screens in 1999, when the BBC World Service adapted the programme name for their new flagship morning programme at the time of the BBC News relaunch. It returned in 2001, and has been broadcast once a day as a new European breakfast programme, with news, sport and a half hour edition of World Business Report.
