The Rasmus are a Finnish rock band that formed in 1994 in Helsinki while the band members were still in high school. Main source of the band's history: Åsa Werner and Mia Lindqvist, blank">The Rasmus history at www.therasmus.se The original band members were _Lauri Ylönen (lead singer/songwriter), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Janne Heiskanen (drums). The former drummer Heiskanen quit the band in 1998 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala.
Before releasing their fourth studio album Into (2001), they were simply known as Rasmus, but changed their name to The Rasmus in order to avoid being confused with a Swedish DJ of the same name. Their 2003 hit "In the Shadows" made them famous worldwide.
The band is one of Finland's most successful bands with more than 1.5 million sold albums worldwide , eight gold awards and five platinum awards. They have released six studio albums, one compilation album and 21 singles. Some of the band's most famous songs are the singles "Liquid", "F-F-F-Falling", "In the Shadows", "First Day of My Life", "Guilty", "Funeral Song" , "No Fear" and "Sail Away"
Rasmus Gardell, known professionally as just Rasmus, is a Swedish electronica and breakbeat music producer who is sometimes mistaken for the Finnish band of the same name (this led to The Rasmus adding a 'The' at the start of their name). Rasmus released the album Mass Hysteria (1998), a breakbeat record which was released on Bolshi Records. The artist is best known for the song "Punk Shock", which due to an error appears mistitled on Liam Howlett's The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One album as "Tonto's Release". The song is featured alongside a few more of his tracks on the first two SSX games.
