The Path to 9/11 was a two-part miniseries that aired in the United States on ABC television from September 10 - 11, 2006, and also in other countries. The film dramatizes the 1993 terrorist attack upon the World Trade Center in New York City and the events leading up to the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Initially promoted as having a high level of authenticity and claiming that its screenplay was "based on the 9/11 Commission Report," controversy arose from the film after that claim was later removed by ABC. Critics pointed out that key scenes were fictional in nature, and the controversy ensued.
The film was written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, and directed by David L. Cunningham; it stars Harvey Keitel and Donnie Wahlberg. According to ABC:
Shaun Toub, who portrayed Emad Salem (the FBI informant in the 1993 WTC Bombing) in this miniseries, also portrayed El Sayyid Nosair (one of the men responsible for the 1993 bombing) in Path to Paradise: The Untold Story of the World Trade Center Bombing. (1997) (TV).
