The Invisible Man (Wikipedia.org)

The Invisible Man is an 1897 science fiction novella by H.G. Wells. Wells' novel was originally serialised in Pearson's Magazine in 1897, and published as a novel the same year. The Invisible Man of the title is Griffin, a scientist who theorises that if a person's refractive index is changed to exactly that of air and his body does not absorb or reflect light, then he will be invisible. He successfully carries out this procedure on himself, but cannot become visible again, becoming mentally unstable as a result.

The Invisible Man (1958 TV series) (Wikipedia.org)

The Invisible Man was a 1958 ITC Entertainment series for Associated TeleVision. The series was networked on CBS in the United States. It ran for 26 half-hour monochrome episodes across two seasons and was loosely based on the novel by H.G. Wells, one of four such television series.

The series follows the adventures of Doctor Peter Brady, a British scientist who has an accident which turns him permanently invisible. He searches for an antidote but also uses his invisibility to help the government solve crimes and defeat spies.

The Invisible Man (2000 TV series) (Wikipedia.org)

The Invisible Man series debuted in 2000 and starred Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny and Mike McCafferty. Somewhat more successful than previous television series involving invisible secret agents, Ventresca played Darien Fawkes, a thief facing life imprisonment who was recruited by a low-rent spy organization and given the power of invisibility via the implantation of a special "Quicksilver gland" in his head. The gland lets Fawkes secrete a light-bending substance called "Quicksilver" from his pores and follicles. The substance quickly coats his skin, hair, nails and clothes and renders him invisible. He can consciously release the Quicksilver, which then flakes off and disintegrates. The Quicksilver gland was sabotaged at its creation by scientist Arnaud DeFehrn, to release a neurotoxin that accumulates in his bloodstream and causes intense pain, followed by psychosis and antisocial behavior. He requires regular doses of "counteragent" to keep him sane and healthy, which is controlled by said government agency. This series lasted for two seasons, before being cancelled due to cost issues and internal bickering between the Sci Fi Channel and its then-parent company, USA Networks.

Dr. Daniel Westin was a scientist working with a government thinktank known as the KLAE Corporation who was rendered invisible by a formula concocted by himself that was supposed to be used for matter transformation. Before he can return to normal, Westin discovers the federal government has plans to use his invisibility formula for warlike purposes, so he destroys the only formula. Unfortunately he has no way to become visible again, so, wearing a very realistic face mask and hands, he becomes an agent for KLAE, fighting crime and battling saboteurs, while simultaneously working in KLAE's laboratory with wife Kate to rediscover his formula. Walter Carlson was their sympathetic boss at KLAE. Written by Marty McKee

Daniel Weston is a scientist who, thanks to a top secret ray gun, has been rendered completely invisible. He wears a mask to appear normal, but whenever the need arises, he strips off his mask and clothes (effectively running around in the nude) and does the Invisible thing. Written by Afterburner
