The Core (2003) is a science fiction disaster film very loosely based on the novel Core by Paul Preuss. It concerns a team that has to drill to the center of the Earth and set off a series of nuclear explosions in order to restart the rotation of Earth's core. The film was directed by Jon Amiel, and starred Aaron Eckhart, Delroy Lindo, Tchéky Karyo, Hilary Swank, DJ Qualls, Bruce Greenwood, and Stanley Tucci.
The Earth's core has stop spinning. Disasters are appearing all over the world. Birds acting crazy, powerful thunderstorms, 32 people died at the second. Dr. Josh Keyes and his crew of five (total members: 6) goes down to the central of the Earth and drop a nuclear bomb to make the Earth's core spin again or Mankind will perish... For reasons unknown, the earth's inner core has stopped rotating, causing the planet's electromagnetic field to rapidly deteriorate. Instantly, life around the globe begins to change dramatically. In Boston, 32 people with pacemakers, all within a 10-block radius, suddenly drop dead. In San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge collapses, sending hundreds of people plunging to their deaths. In London's Trafalgar Square, flocks of pigeons lose their ability to navigate, flying into panicked crowds, slamming into windshields and causing drivers to lose control of their cars. And in Rome, as thousands of tourists watch helplessly, an electrical superstorm reduces the ancient Roman Colosseum to rubble. Scrambling to resolve the crisis, government and military officials call upon geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes and a team of the world's most gifted scientists to travel into the earth's core in a subterranean craft piloted by "terranauts" Major Rebecca "Beck" Childs and Commander Robert Iverson. Their mission: Detonate a nuclear device that will reactivate the core and save the world from sure destruction. Written by www.reaper.nl
Scientists discover that the Earth's core is about to stop spinning. This will cause tremendous natural disasters, wiping out life as we know it. A team of scientists are recruited in a crash project to send a ship and bomb into the center of the Earth to prevent the catastrophe. Written by Jon Reeves
A personal first person account of how the famous Nobel prize winning physicist Niels Bohr (1885-1962) lost his innocence when experiencing how his formulas were the basis for the Atomic Bomb thrown on Hiroshima in 1945. Though never before seen personal footage from Bohr's Rolex camera, personal photos and beautiful shot 16mm footage from Copenhagen we hear Bohr tell the story of how he took the responsibility when realizing the consequences of his atomic knowledge. It is a close up account based exclusively on Bohr's own words. In the1920s Bohr came to realize that nothing is as it appears on the atomic level. This insight was the beginning of quantum physics and famous discussions with Albert Einstein. The Quantum States brought Bohr to reach for answers in the ancient Indian and Japanese traditions - On one hand gaining knowledge and wisdom on the other leaving death, destruction and desolation in Hiroshima in 1945. After the Second World War, Bohr pleaded for openness between East and West with President Roosevelt and Churchill.. He was not heard. Many experts agree that Bohr was 50 years ahead of his time.
