Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) (Wikipedia.org)

"Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", released in December 1969, is a 1970 hit single recorded by Sly & the Family Stone, recognized as one of the greatest and most influential funk songs of all time. The song, double a-sided with "Everybody is a Star", reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in February of 1970. Some music scholars consider it the first recording to feature the matured form of funk music, after a half-decade of proto-funk records from the Family Stone, James Brown, Jr. Walker & the All-Stars, and others. "Thank You" was intended to be included on an in-progress album with "Star" and "Hot Fun in the Summertime"; the LP was never completed, and the three tracks were instead included on the band's 1970 Greatest Hits LP. "Thank You" and "Star", the final Family Stone recordings issued in the 1960s, marked the beginning of a twenty-month gap of releases from the band, which would finally end with the release of "Family Affair" in 1971.

Rolling Stone ranked the song #402 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Thank You (Led Zeppelin song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Thank You" is a song written by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page that was released by English rock band Led Zeppelin on their 1969 album Led Zeppelin II. It signaled a deeper involvement in songwriting by singer Robert Plant, being the first Led Zeppelin song that he wrote all the lyrics for. According to various Led Zeppelin biographies, this is also the song that made Jimmy Page realize that Plant could now handle writing the majority of the lyrics for the band's songs. The first lines of Plant's composition heavily resemble those in the Jimi Hendrix song "If 6 Was 9".

The song features some delicate organ playing by John Paul Jones, and ends with the organ fading into near-silence before coming back about 10 seconds later. This has created a problem for radio stations wishing to play the track, which must decide whether to accept the dead air or cut it off. Some stations typically run edited versions with the silence eliminated, whilst others play "Thank You" together with "The Lemon Song", because there's no pause between them on the album.

"Thank You" was a popular song when played live at Led Zeppelin concerts, and became something of a showcase for Jones' keyboard work. An example of this can be heard on the Led Zeppelin BBC Sessions album, which captures a version performed at the Paris Theatre in London in 1971. However, the song was eventually dropped from the band's standard live setlist following the 1973 tour of the United States, when it was only occasionally used as an encore, for example, at the last tour's concert in Madison Square Garden.

In 1992 Plant sang part of "Thank You" before merging in to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen at the The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.

Page and Plant revived the song in 1994 on their Unledded tour. They played a somewhat mellower arrangement for most of their shows from 1995 through 1998 as either an opening number or an encore.

Several bands have covered Led Zeppelin's song or played it live:

Thank You (Dido song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Thank You" was the second single by Dido, which was released in June 2001. It is the singer's biggest hit off her debut album, No Angel. Samples from the track were featured on the song "Stan" by Eminem; a rare example of a song becoming a hit after a track which sampled it did.

Dido wrote this song herself as a tribute to her boyfriend Bob, they got engaged in 2001 but this engagement did not last long and they broke apart the following year. She also wrote the song "White Flag" about their split, in her second album Life For Rent.

Thank You (Jamelia song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Thank You" was the third single from British R&B star Jamelia's second album Thank You. The song, released in the UK on February 24 2004, became Jamelia's highest charting single in the UK to date, peaking at #2, and spending 14 weeks within the whole UK Singles Chart, and kept off the top spot a re-release of Peter Andre's "Mysterious Girl". The song also became her second top 10 hit in Australia. Following the release of this single, the album Thank You was re-released, peaking at #4 in the UK Albums Chart. The song was quite successful in the likes of Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Ireland, peaking inside the top 20. In France, the single was released as a duet with French singer Singuila.

The song is about an abusive relationship, of which Jamelia had first hand experience. The song discusses that relationship and how she made it through such a difficult time and experiencehttp://www.mirror.co.uk/news/villageofhope/tm_objectid=15155377&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=jamelia-backs-village-of-hope-appeal-name_page.html http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/17/1079199282587.html?from=storyrhs.

Thank You (Ray Boltz song) (Wikipedia.org)

Thank You is a 1988 song by Contemporary Christian artist Ray Boltz, from his album of the same name. The song is considered Boltz's signature song.

The song is told in the first person, where Boltz dreams that he is in Heaven with an unnamed friend. As the story is told, the friend is not a well-known individual in Christian circles, but an average person who was consistent in giving to and serving in the Lord's work.

As they are seeing the sights, Boltz's friend is approached by a young man. The young man says that he may not be immediately recognizable to the friend; however, he was part of the friend's Sunday School class when he was eight years old. He recalled how the friend would always begin class with a prayer; during one of those prayers, the young man trusted in Christ for salvation.

Immediately afterwards, another man approaches Boltz's friend. He stated that a Christian missionary gave a presentation at the friend's church. The presentation moved the friend to tears, and he gave what little money he had to the missionary's work, which in turn ultimately led to the man also trusting Christ for salvation.

A seemingly endless line of people gathered, each one wanting to thank Boltz's friend for the seemingly small and insignificant sacrifices that he had made, each sacrifice resulting in a changed life. At the end, Jesus Christ accompanies the friend to the throne of God, where he his told that "great is your reward".
