Tara Correa-McMullen (May 24, 1989–October 21, 2005) was the stage name of Shalvah McMullen, an American actress who was most well-known for a recurring role playing a gang member, Graciela Reyes, on the CBS TV series, Judging Amy. In 2005, she co-starred with Martin Lawrence in her first movie, Rebound.
Correa-McMullen was born in Westminster, Vermont to Devra Correa and Thomas McMullen. She moved to Los Angeles, California and sang in the Venice High School choir. She also spent a lot of time dancing.
On October 21, 2005, Correa-McMullen was shot to death outside an apartment complex in Inglewood, California. She was 16 years old. Suspected gang member Damien Watts, 20, was charged with her murder on March 1, 2006. When charged, Watts was already in custody for a separate shooting.
While police believe her death was gang-related (mirroring her most well-known role), "she may have just been at the wrong place at the wrong time," claimed Sgt. Steve Overly. Although it has been stated that before died she had become "unreliable" and had joined with a "bad crowd" there is dispute about what if any gang involvement she had.
She was shot several times and died while standing outside an apartment complex in Inglewood on October 21, 2005. Two other people were wounded and the shooting is believed to be gang-related. She is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Hollywood Hills, California.
Parents are Devra Correa and Thomas McMullen.
She sang in the Venice High School choir and danced in several dance troupes as a child.
Buried at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, California. 6300 Forest Lawn Drive. Address is listed as Los Angeles however it borders Glendale and Griffith Park.
