A tank is a tracked armoured combat vehicle designed to engage enemies head-on, using direct and indirect fire from a large-calibre gun and supporting fire from machine guns. Heavy armour as well as a high degree of mobility give it protection, while the tracks allow it to cross even rough terrain at relatively high speeds.
Tanks were invented and first manufactured for World War I in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, by the British Royal Navy, to break the deadlock of trench warfare. A vehicle that could withstand machine-gun bullets and artillery shrapnel had the opportunity of reaching the enemy trench lines, suppressing or destroying enemy machine-gun nests and other strong-points. The resulting breakthrough was then ideally to be followed up by deep penetration into enemy rear areas. Tanks seldom operate alone, being organised into armoured units, usually in combined arms forces. Without such support, tanks are vulnerable to special anti-tank artillery, other tanks, anti-tank mines, and (at short ranges) infantry, as well as specialised anti-tank aircraft.
While tanks are expensive to operate and support, they remain among the most formidable and versatile weapons of the modern battlefield, both for their ability to engage other ground targets (including fortifications) and their shock value against infantry. Tanks and armour tactics have undergone many generations of evolution over nearly a century. Although weapons systems and armour continue to be developed, often at very high cost, many nations have reconsidered the need for such heavy weaponry in a period characterised by unconventional warfare.
Tank is a British heavy metal band, formed in 1980 by Algy Ward, a former member of The Damned. The band is considered to be part of the NWOBHM or New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.
Tank ( , born February 6, 1982) is a Taiwanese singer/songwriter. He is also known as Tank Lu. Tank (born Durrell Babbs on January 1, 1976) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, musician, and producer.
Tank was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Clinton, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Tank took an instant interest in singing and playing the piano, partially due to his alliance to religion — his cousin directed the church choir and helped the aspiring vocalist foster his singing talent from an early age. His stage name comes from his chiseled physique. A multi-sport athlete in high school, he had the opportunity to play college football. However, Tank decided to focus on music, and his talent eventually led him to an opportunity to sing background vocals for Ginuwine during one of Ginuwine's tours. Next, he found himself singing with Aaliyah and then Blackground Records founder Barry Hankerson, and his son (and company president) Jomo Hankerson took notice, offering Tank the opportunity to become a solo artist. In 2001, Tank realized his ambitions, seeing his debut album, Force of Nature, released to a national audience. This LP rendered the Top 10 R&B ballad, "Maybe I Deserve".
The next year, Tank released his second album, One Man. The single of the same name had chart success as well. He also co-produced the smash hit single "One Minute Man" by Missy Elliott in 2002.
Tank has also made a name for himself as a producer and writer, working with artists such as Dave Hollister, Marques Houston, Omarion, Jamie Foxx, Donell Jones, Monica among others. As an associate of production team The Underdogs, he has worked with many different artists over the years and was also a contributor to the score of the film adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls, in which he also had a cameo.
Tank sold what was to be the lead single to his 3rd album, "I Luv Dem Girls", to Marques Houston who renamed it "Strip Club" (this song appears on Marques Houston's 3rd solo album "Veteran"). Tank has recently worked on Kelly Rowland's second album Ms. Kelly on the tracks "The Show" (a duet with Tank himself) and "Ghetto" featuring Snoop Dogg. "Ghetto" is also set to be the album's second single.
Tank released his 3rd solo album entitled "Sex, Love & Pain" on May 15, 2007. The first single of this album is "Please Don't Go". Tank has also formed a group with Ginuwine and Tyrese named TGT. Their first single will be a remix of "Please Don't Go", with an international tour entitled "The Shirts Off Tour" and search for a fourth member to follow. http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/11692

Tank (born Eric Geisenheyner on July 1 1977, in Hamburg, Germany) is a German musician and martial artist known best as the vocalist on several hit techno songs. Born to Ghanaian parents, he was adopted by a family in Hamburg following the accidental death of his parents. He first came to prominence by winning several Karate championships in Hamburg, and eventually won a national championship.
Although he had always been an enthusiast of Progressive electronic music, it was Tank’s encounter with some DJs at a club in Hamburg, that spurred him on to consider a career in music. The producers invited him to be the vocalist on "Can U Feel The Bass", which was still in production at this time. He accepted the invitation, and the song went on to become a hit in 1997. The following year, they teamed up again to release another club track entitled "The Return Of Power", whose music video was shot in London.
Personalities that Tank has collaborated with include Sista Rude, DJ Darling, Christopher Von Deylen and Dee Jay Sören.
