Information technology (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.
Today, the term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term is more recognizable than ever before. The information technology umbrella can be quite large, covering many fields. IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design, as well as the management and administration of entire systems. When computer and communications technologies are combined, the result is information technology, or "infotech". Information Technology (IT) is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information.
In the field of telecommunications, a telephone exchange or telephone switch is a system of electronic components that connects telephone calls. A central office is the physical building used to house inside plant equipment including telephone switches, which make phone calls "work" in the sense of making connections and relaying the speech information.
The term exchange can also be used to refer to an area served by a particular switch (typically known as a wire center in the US telecommunications industry). More narrowly, in some areas it can refer to the first three digits of the local number. In the three-digit sense of the word, other obsolete Bell System terms include office code and NXX. In the United States, the word exchange can also have the legal meaning of a local access and transport area under the Modification of Final Judgment (MFJ).
A switched-mode power supply, switching-mode power supply or SMPS, is an electronic power supply unit (PSU) that incorporates a switching regulator. While a linear regulator maintains the desired output voltage by dissipating excess power in a "pass" power transistor, the SMPS rapidly switches a power transistor between saturation (full on) and cutoff (completely off) with a variable duty cycle whose average is the desired output voltage. The resulting rectangular waveform is low-pass filtered with an inductor and capacitor. The main advantage of this method is greater efficiency because the switching transistor dissipates little power in the saturated state and the off state compared to the semiconducting state (active region). Other advantages include smaller size and lighter weight from the elimination of low frequency transformers which have a high weight and lower heat generation from the higher efficiency. Disadvantages include greater complexity, the generation of high amplitude, high frequency energy that the low-pass filter must block to avoid EMI, and a ripple voltage at the switching frequency and the harmonic frequencies thereof.
SMPS can be classified into four types according to the input and output waveforms, as follows.
AC and DC are abbreviations for alternating current and direct current.
"Switch" is a single released in 2005 by Will Smith from his album Lost & Found.
The song peaked at #7 on the United States Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It reached #1 in Australia where it remained for one week and #4 in the United Kingdom.
On the iTunes Music Store, for a small period, the single "Switch" ranked No. 2 on the Top 100 Songs and No. 1 on the genre category Hip-Hop/Rap.
Will Smith performed the song live on the Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards 2005 and at the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia.
There are 2 official remixes to the song-an R&B remix featuring Robin Thicke with a smoother and slower rhythm and a Reggae remix featuring Elephant Man. Both can be found on the Lost & Found album. One of the most common remix found on various file-sharing programs is the Switch (Lil Jon Remix). It is unknown if it was produced by Lil Jon.
