The Swiss Family Robinson was a television series produced in the United States that aired during the 1975-76 season. It was based upon the novel The Swiss Family Robinson and was produced by Irwin Allen, who had earlier produced a futuristic adaptation of the same novel called Lost in Space.
The series was directed by Leslie H. Martinson, with second unit director Stan Jolley. Story editing was by William Welch, cinematography by Fred Jackman Jr., original music by Richard LaSalle.
The series starred Martin Milner (formerly of Adam-12) as shipwrecked Carl Robinson and was based fairly closely on the original novel. Helen Hunt co-stars as one of his daughters, making one of her first acting performances.
Swiss Family Robinson is a 1960 film adaptation of the Johann David Wyss novel. It was directed by Ken Annakin and produced by Walt Disney Productions. It is stated that it will be receiving a remake, scheduled for 2009.

A family in route to New Guinea is shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island. They are forced to remain on the island because of the damage to the ship and the pirates that are roaming the islands. They create a home on the island (centering around a huge treehouse) and explore the island and it's wildlife. Plenty of adventure ensues as the family deals with issues of survival, pirates, and the brothers must learn how to live on the island with an uncertain future. Written by Scott Lane
