Susan Egan (b. February 18, 1970) is an American actress and singer best known for her work on the Broadway stage. An unknown at the time, she won the coveted role of Belle in the original Broadway cast of Beauty and the Beast. Also on stage, she has won high praise for her portrayal of Maria in regional productions of The Sound of Music.
Egan's voice has been featured in the English language versions of two feature films by Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki as well as the Disney animated feature, Hercules. She reprised the role of Megara in the Disney/Square Enix video game Kingdom Hearts II.
She was born in Seal Beach, in California. She attended UCLA and Los Alamitos High School, first site of the Orange County High School of the Arts. While attending UCLA, she took time off when Tommy Tune cast her as Kim in his touring production of Bye Bye Birdie. After the tour ended she was cast in the tour of State Fair and officially dropped out of college to move to New York City. She is married to Robert Hartmann and they have a daughter, Nina, born on February 6, 2007.

She was one of the first students to attend the Orange County School of the Performing Arts during its original incarnation at Los Alamitos High School.

Was nominated for Broadway's 1994 Tony Award as Best Actress (Musical) for originating the role of "Belle" in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."

Welcomed her first child Nina, with husband Robert Hartmann, on February 6th. Nina weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and measured 20.5 inches long. She was born a few days early, and was named after Robert's grandmother.
