Supermarket Sweep was a television game show that aired in the United States. The premise of the show was based on supermarkets, groceries, and a final shopping spree through a supermarket. The original version of the show was broadcast on ABC (1965-1967), with revivals airing on Lifetime (1990-1995, reran until 1998) and later PAX (2000-2003, reran until 2004).
The ABC version of Supermarket Sweep was broadcast from various Food Fair supermarkets, mostly in the New York area. For the Lifetime version, a mock supermarket was set up in a television studio at the Valencia Studios. The supermarket was originally modeled after a Hughes Market, until September 1993, when it was remodeled after a Unified Western Market until the end of the series. The PAX version was staged in the same studios and used the same set as the Lifetime version had when it ended. At the beginning of the new season in September 2001, the show moved to NBC Studios.
The host for the 1965 ABC version was Bill Malone. The announcers were Wally King from 1965 to 1966, and Richard Hayes from 1966 to 1967. The host for the Lifetime and PAX versions was David Ruprecht. The announcer was Johnny Gilbert throughout the Lifetime era and the first half of the 2000-2001 season, and Randy West for the rest of the show's run from 2000 to 2003.
Three female contestants one a champion competed. The champion was given two minutes and ran after her two opponents. Those two opponents were given one minute of base time and earned additional running time by answering a series of product-related questions (e.g., "What brand of soup uses the jingle, 'MMM, MMM, good?'" Answer Campbell's). When running around the supermarket selecting items, a maximum of five of a given item was counted toward the final score (e.g., five canned vegetables or five frozen waffles). Fleet-footed aides usually the produce boys at the supermarket where the show was taped that day helped load the shopping carts as each contestant scurried down the aisles. The contestant having the highest dollar value of groceries at the end of the show won her take and returned to compete the next day. Written by Brian Rathjen

Later series were called "Dale's Supermarket Sweep".
Pairs of contestants answer questions regarding supermarket merchandise, and each correct answer increases the time they can spend in the shopping spree. Contestants then go on a shopping spree, filling their trolleys with merchandise. The team whose trolley is of the highest monetary value is deemed the winner and moves onto the final round. The final round is a treasure hunt, where contestants must find certain items in the supermarket. They are given clues, which they must solve to be able to find the items. Written by Anonymous
