Stranger is a song by the rock music group Electric Light Orchestra from their 1983 album Secret Messages. It starts with echoed laughter and continues on into the vocal part of the song. Released as a single in the US.
"The Stranger" is a song by rock artist Billy Joel from his 1977 album of the same name, The Stranger, about the id of the human psyche where desire and primal instincts are supposedly held in check by the superego (according to the theories of Sigmund Freud). The song was released as a single in Japan where it became very popular and peaked at #2 on the Oricon chart. It was the last single from the album in Japan, while the US and UK saw "She's Always a Woman", released the previous year, as the last single from the album.
The single is featured in Billy Joel's greatest hits album, Greatest Hits - Volume I & II.
A two-minute instrumental reprise of this song is featured at the end of the The Stranger album.
"Stranger" is a song written by Hilary Duff, Kara DioGuardi, Vada Nobles, Derrick Harvin and Julius Diaz, and recorded for Duff's third studio album, Dignity (2007). It features elements of Middle Eastern music, particularly that of India, and aspects of Indian culture were incorporated into the accompanying Fatima Robinson-directed music video, which Duff cited as her best video at the time. She said that contrary to rumors, the song was inspired by the strained relationship between her parents and not by her ex-boyfriend, Joel Madden.
Internet feedback from Duff's fans led to the release of "Stranger" as the third single from Dignity in North America, where it was released in July 2007 (see 2007 in music). It was a number-one club hit in the United States, but it became Duff's lowest peaking song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, possibly due to the lack of a radio release and lack of promotion. In the United Kingdom, where "Stranger" was the album's second single, a WaWa-produced remix of the song was released in September 2007. blank">"WAWA v Hilary Duff 'Stranger'". Teen First.
