Steve Williams (goalkeeper) (Wikipedia.org)

Steve Williams or 'Willo' (born April 21, 1983) is an English professional footballer formerly of Wycombe Wanderers in Football League Two.

Steve joined the club at the age of 14 after having trials at Chelsea.

He served a 'work experience' spell at Beaconsfield in 2002 due to limited opportunities with the Blues but, despite starting the 2002/03 campaign as third choice behind Martin Taylor and Mark Osborn, Oxford born 'Willo' signed his first professional contract in April 2002.

The young keeper made his league debut against Stockport on 9 August 2003, after having a successful pre-season campaign ahead of first choice Frank Talia.

Despite being in and out of the side throughout the 2003/04 season, Willo steadily improved and was unfortunate to fracture a finger at Plymouth in early April, missing the rest of that season.

Fit again for the start of the 2005/06 campaign, Willo never really came close to challenging Frank Talia for the number 1 spot and both had to see loan 'keepers brought in ahead of them. However, Willo's first start of the season came against Peterborough on the last game of the 2005/06 season which was enough to see him keep his place for the play-off games against Cheltenham Town.

Willo signed a new one-year contract with Wycombe on 1 August 2006, but just a day later moved to Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan deal. He returned to Wycombe in January from his loan deal at Forest Green when it was cut short. He was then loaned out to Conference South side Lewes.

Williams was released by Wycombe at the end of the 2006/07 season.

Steve Williams (Welsh footballer) (Wikipedia.org)

Steve Williams (born 16 October 1974, in Aberystwyth) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a goalkeeper with Bray Wanderers. He has represented his country at Under-15, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level.

Williams started his career at Coventry before moving to Cardiff City. Having spent four years with Cardiff, he moved briefly to Notts County before joining Dundalk in 1997. He moved to Shelbourne for the onset of the 1999-2000 and was a major player in their double success that season, having kept seventeen clean sheets. He was voted Early & Baldwin Player of the Year in 2002/03 and won the SWAI Goalkeeper of the Year award for calendar year 2003.

Steve was also prone to mistakes. He dropped the ball into his own goal on the final day of the 2006 season against Bohemians. Shelbourne, however went onto win the title. Although prone to mistakes he made some outstanding saves. Some of these include denying Bohemians an equalizer in Dalymount Park with an unbelievable save to guarantee Shels title victory.

Williams made 213 league appearances during his time with Shels.

Steve Williams (jazz drummer) (Wikipedia.org)

Steve Williams, born January 7 1956 in Rochester, New York, is an American jazz drummer.

He acquired his titles of nobility serving, for twenty five years, one of the greatest jazz pianists and singers Shirley Horn.

Steve Williams grew up in Washington, DC. He continued his music education at the University of Miami. There he joined Monty Alexander's band, with whom he started to perform on the international scene. He furthered his music education in New York, with Billy Hart.

Back in Washington, Steve Williams played locally with Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Williams, Woodie Shaw, Gary Bartz, Eddie Henderson, John Hicks, Larry Willis, Mulgrew Miller and many others. He joined Gary Thomas' band, with whom he recorded one of his first compositions, "Pads".

Then he joined Shirley Horn, who would keep for twenty-five years the same rhythm section: Charles Ables (bass) and Steve Williams (drums). Critic Don Heckman wrote in the Los Angeles Times (February 2, 1995) about "the importance of bassist Charles Ables and drummer Steve Williams to the Horn's sound. Working with boundless subtlety, following her every spontaneous twist and turn, they were the ideal accompanists for a performer who clearly will tolerate nothing less than perfection". His music relationship with the pianist and singer gives him the opportunity to tour the world and record with such artists as Toots Thielemans, Branford Marsalis and Wynton Marsalis, Carmen McRae, Roy Hargrove and Miles Davis. After his long collaboration with Shirley Horn, Steve Williams moved back to New York in 2006, where he studied with Michael Carvin. He performs among others with the Slagle/Stryker Band, Paul Bollenbach, Roni Ben Hur, Larry Willis, the John Hicks Legacy Band, Bill Saxton, Bob Mover, Amy London, Sara Lazarus, Ben Vereen. He stars to tour with the Joe Lovano Nonet in October 2007.

He pursued his music career with his own quintet, promoting original compositions by the band members. His first album as the leader of New Incentive was released in January 2007. The musicians are: Olivier Hutman (p), Michael Bowie (b), Donvonte McCoy (t), and Antoine Roney (s). John Hicks, Gary Bartz and Roy Hargrove are guests. According to French jazz critic Renaud Czarnes, in Les Echos (January 26, 2007) "this record is a splendor. It revivals the kind of emotion that you only feel listening to the great sessions from the sixties. The compositions, signed by Steve Williams or other musicians from the band are dazzling. It is one of those that gives the strength to get up in the morning and the will to stretch out the night".

Known for his refinement with Shirley Horn, he is also appreciated as a powerful and sensitive instrumentalist.
