Steve Davis (Wikipedia.org)

Steve Davis, OBE, (born August 22, 1957, Plumstead, London) is an English professional snooker, a sport at which he has won more professional titles than any other player, including six world championships during the 1980s.

Davis' most successful spell came during the 1980s, when he was the snooker world number one for seven years and reached eight world finals; along the way, he recorded the first televised 147 break and became the sport's first millionaire. Such was Davis' dominance in the 1980s, a popular saying suggested that he was on television more often than the Prime Minister of the time.

Although he has failed to win a major title since 1997, Davis continues to play snooker at a high level, retaining his place in the elite world top-16 players almost every year. For the 2007-08 snooker season, he was ranked number 15. In recent years, Davis has also developed a television career as a studio analyst during the BBC's snooker coverage.

Davis also has some notability as a pool player and by playing in the first annual Europe versus US Mosconi Cup team nine-ball competition.

Since 2002 both umpires in Test matches have been appointed from non-participating nations, by the International Cricket Council. The most recent two of Davis’ Test matches have been played in New Zealand, and did not involve Australia. Steve Davis (drummer) (Wikipedia.org)

Jazz drummer Steve Davis was born in Santa Barbara, California in 1958. With Shelly Manne as his Godfather, it's no wonder he became interested in the drums at a young age. He soon realized that playing the drums was what he wanted to do in life.

Following the advice of legendary drumset teacher, Alan Dawson, Steve moved to New York in the early 1980s to begin his career as a jazz drummer. Soon after he met the famous jazz educator Jamey Aebersold, and in 1982 joined the Aebersold clinic faculty, of which he has been a member of ever since. Throughout the 80's Steve built up a strong reputation in the New York scene, playing and recording with many big names. During this period he also studied privately with master drummer Joe Morello.

Steve is now most widely known as a member of the much-acclaimed Lynne Arriale trio. Pianist Arriale met Steve at a jam session soon after she herself moved to New York in 1991. There was an immediate musical rapport and they decided to work together. Steve has since appeared on 10 recordings with Arriale, and has toured worldwide with the trio for the last 15 years.
