Stelio Savante (born 1970, in Cape Town, South Africa) is a South African film, television and stage actor living in the United States. Is a native English speaker (Anglo South African) and fluent in Afrikaans and Greek.
Born and raised in Cape Town South Africa Stelio has made his home in The United States since 1990 when the University Of West Alabama offered him a tennis scholarship. A theater major at UWA, he played for both the tennis and the football teams until moving to New York to pursue an acting career in 1992. His affinity for languages and accents landed him a staple of consecutive high profile guest star television roles include a Serbian Muslim Fundamentalist (Law & Order SVU), Italian American hit-man (Law & Order Criminal Intent) and a recurring role on Ugly Betty as a shady informant. He has also featured in large roles in numerous award winning independent and short films including The Coldest Winter, Astoria, Close Up, A Grave Debt and Solidarity. Stelio also has extensive theater credits including an Ecuadorian photographer in '110 Stories' at the Public Theater in New York. His voice has been used in several dozen radio, television and internet spots.
