Static Age is an album by the American horror punk band The Misfits. It was recorded in 1978 but was not released in its entirety until 1997.
The Static Age are an American post punk band originally from Burlington, Vermont consisting primarily of Andrew Paley and Adam Meilleur. They began playing shows in their hometown in 2002 with original members Paley and Meilleur and others, and they've released a "full-length demo," two albums and a few singles to date. As of 2008, their latest release was "Blank Screens," released on ReIgnition Records (the sister label to the former Law of Inertia magazine). It was the followup to 2005's "Neon Nights Electric Lives" released for tours on Tarantulas Records in October of 2004, and then properly through Tarantulas Records/Platform Group/Fontana in March of 2005. Other prior releases include 2004's "Amphibian" single, 2003's "The Past and Now" single, and 2003's "The Cost of Living" album, released by the bands own imprint Primary Records with the now defunct Red Dawn Records. More can be read about these releases in the news and records archives at the band's Official website.
Due to an exhaustive touring schedule 2004-2007, favorable attention from both the US and the UK press (many quotes on the band's official website's press section could be labeled as "critical acclaim" 2), openly "campy" music videos for "Vertigo" and "Cherry Red" being picked up on at Fuse and MTVu through 2006 and 2007 (and a more surrealistic December 2007-launched "Blank Screens" internet series of videos available at SeventeenScratches.com that doesn't feature the band at all, apparently set to culminate in March 2008), their relationship with the short-lived-but-influential Tarantulas Records, and a reputation for being both "art-centric" (a phrase originally used by Tarantulas) and fiercely independent, the band has carved out a unique space for itself. The band toured throughout 2007 in support of "Blank Screens" (playing with bands like Tiger Army, Street Dogs, and Theo and the Skyscrapers), while hinting at working on demos and new songs for their next album. Currently, as of early Spring 2008, their website claims they are writing and demoing.
