Stakeout is a 1987 movie directed by John Badham and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Emilio Estevez, Madeleine Stowe, Aidan Quinn, and Forest Whitaker. Although the story is set in Seattle, Washington, the movie was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. The screenplay was written by Jim Kouf, who won a 1988 Edgar Award for his work. Kouf also wrote and directed Disorganized Crime (1989), which has a similar mixture of comedy and action. However, in Disorganized Crime the crooks are the "good guys".
A sequel, Another Stakeout, followed in 1993.
Father Joe Dasco, played by actor Bing Russell, is realeased from prison after servering a three year term for bank robber. He reunites with his ten year old son, played by actor Billy E. Hughes, Jr. The two go from place to place looking for work in the oil fields of Texas. Not able to hold a job, Joe Dasco, Sr. along with actor, Bill Foster and Robert "Whitey" Hughes, scheme a kidnapping of an oil barons son, played by Christopher Wayne. The kiddnapping goes sour and Joe Dasco is shot and killed, leaving his Joey [Billy E. Hughes, Jr.] to be award of the state. Written by Billy E. Hughes, Jr.
Two cops are given the 'dirty' job of staking out the home of an escaped convict's ex-girlfriend. Chris and the beautiful girlfriend accidentally meet and fall in love. Just as Chris' confesses, the convict appears, but will she betray him ? Written by Rob Hartill
After a brutal murderer escaped from prison, it is ordered that all of his possible contacts are put under survey. His former girlfriend Maria McGuire, who ceased contact with him long ago, is observed by four cops. The night-team is formed by Chris Leece and Bill Reimers, who work as partners normally, too. Maria proves to be a very cute young woman, and Chris, who bugs her appartment as Telephone-Bill, falls for her. Now, everytime he is with her, his partner has to watch his friend enjoy life and he himself has to get out before the other team comes in. But when Maria's ex arrives surprisingly, Telephone Bill and his partner find themselves in deep trouble. Written by Julian Reischl
