Staind ( , as in the word "stained") is an American alternative metal group from Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Over the past five years the band has had a number of successful singles spanning several albums, selling over 15 million albums worldwide.

Staind is a four-piece alternative band from Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Staind self-released their debut album, Tormented, in November 1996. Some mainstream breakthrough came with their second album, Dysfunction, which included a re-recorded version of their breakout single “Mudshovel”.
