Sonic the Hedgehog is a video game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that was made to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It was developed by Sonic Team, published by Sega and directed by Shun Nakamura and was the first Sonic title to appear on a seventh generation game console.

The game shares its name with two earlier video games, a manga, a television series, a comic book series and, of course, Sonic the Hedgehog himself. To disambiguate, the game has been called by a number of different aliases, including Sonic '06, Sonic 2006, and Sonic Next Gen. It was released on November 7, 2006.
