Songs in Red and Gray is the sixth studio album release by New York-based singer/songwriter and musician Suzanne Vega. The album marks the divorce with her husband and producer Mitchell Froom. This can be heard in both the lyrics and music. Lyrically, most of the songs deal with the ending of the marriage. Musically, it marks the end of her experimental period, which was displayed on her two previous albums, 99.9F° and Nine Objects of Desire. The sound of this album is more comparable to her earlier work.
