Slipknot is the major label debut album by the American nu-metal band Slipknot. The album was originally released on June 29 1999; however due to controversy surrounding the track "Purity" it was re-released in 2000 with a slightly altered track listing and mastering.

The album was the band's first collaboration with record producer Ross Robinson, whose input was regarded as refining the band's current sound as opposed to altering their musical direction. Slipknot was well received by fans and critics alike and was responsible for bringing Slipknot a large increase in popularity. The album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200, and has gone on to become certified double platinum, making it the band's bestselling album to date.
