The name Sivaji can be referred to:
Sivaji can also be an alternate spelling for:
Sivaji (சிவாஜி) is a 2007 Tamil language film, which was directed by S. Shankar and produced by AVM Productions. While Rajinikanth and Shriya Saran essayed the lead roles, Suman, Vivek and Raghuvaran play other significant roles in the film. A.R. Rahman composed the film's soundtrack and background music, while Thotta Tharani and K. V. Anand were the creative art director and cinematographer respectively.
The movie revolves around a well-established Software System Architect, who returns back home in India. After his return, he begins implementing his dream of giving back to the society with free medical treatment and education. His dreams face a roadblock in the form of a highly affluent and influential businessman. When corruption also raises its ugly face, he is left with no option, but to retaliate the system in his own way.
After post-production delays, it was not only released world-wide on June 15, 2007 in Tamil language, but also in Telugu as a dubbed version on the same date. The film, which released in many theaters worldwide, was set to be dubbed in Hindi and the release planned later that year. The industry estimates for the movie, which was the most expensive Indian film at the time of its release, ranged from Rs. 60 to 96 crores inclusive of Rajinikanth's salary of Rs. 20 crores. The film, which was Rajinikanth's 100th Tamil film, opened to a good box-office reception across the globe despite a few controversies.
Sivaji (Rajnikant) is a US-returned software engineer who wants to use his largesse for social good. He decides to start a free medical college, and a free hospital, and faces a number of obstacles en route by way of corrupt officials and a political kingpin who sabotages his work. Beaten down by politicians, he decides to take matters into his own hands by overhauling the entire system using his own private army of supporters. Meanwhile, he romances Tamilselvi (Shriya), who unfortunately has been told by an astrologer that her future husband is doomed to die soon. Loaded with Rajni-style antics such as flicking coins, acrobatically bouncing chewing gum around, and swapping guns from hand to hand whilst flying through the air, the film has a lot to offer for Rajni fans, and also has the usual social development message featuring Rajni as the Messiah. The song picturizations are good and very entertaining. But the film is very long overall flawed by a weak plot, too many repetitive action sequences, and a extremely poor editing. Sivaji (Rajinikanth) returns from the US to invest his money here for good causes,..But seeing his rising popularity , the politicians cheat him and seal all of his property , just leaving him with 1 rupee(indian currency). Sivaji takes this as a challenge and with that one rupee he plans & executes his ideas , so coolly , that he manages to earn more than he lost...he uses all this money to set the system right with his only goal being - to bring out all the black money from corrupted politicians and join INDIA in the developed countries list....this is touted be the best Rajini movie ever made....
